American Sign Language Interpreted Performances – During ASL Interpreted performances, qualified Interpreters convey the story, dialogue and other elements to patrons who are Deaf and Hard of Hearing. ASL section seats are available in the orchestra, permitting patrons to see both the stage and the Interpreters simultaneously.
For all non-theatrical and non-ballet performances, Patrons requiring interpreting services for concerts or events should contact the Boston Opera House at info@bostonoperahouse.com with the language of ASL Request in the subject of the email. Requests by ticket patrons are required at minimum 2 weeks prior to the show date.

American Sign Language: The Hanover Theatre is pleased to offer ASL interpretation at a select number of performances. ASL interpretation allows deaf and hearing impaired patrons to experience the joys of live theater through the use of ASL interpreters throughout the show.

Deaf/hard-of-hearing school groups are also invited to attend the Student Matinee Series, several performances of which are ASL-interpreted. Schools are provided with study and curriculum guides in advance and with preview tickets for teachers (on request). Although geared toward school groups, individual deaf or hard-of-hearing students accompanied by an adult are also welcome. Trinity has an infrared system made by Listen Technologies. The units come in two type: stethoscope (with ear pieces attached to the unit) and lanyard (worn around the neck with a set of headphones). We also have loops that can be plugged into the lanyards. The loop will transmit the audio feed to your hearing aid.
Both the stethoscope and lanyard units have volume control, so you can dictate how loud or soft the audio feed transmits throughout the performance. It is also important to make sure that the unit is not blocked by anything (a coat, scarf, etc.) because it will prevent the infrared signal from getting through. For more information, please ask the house manager on your next visit to the theater.
Trinity has many open captioned performances and it offers a season subscriber package for the OC performances. Sensory friendly performances too. You more get more information from the Trinity website each season.
