Greetings everyone!
Life is good and the new Maine chapter of Hearing Loss Association of America (HLAA) HLAA Downeast is going strong! We received the ‘Best Up and Coming Chapter at the national convention in 2025. And we are still cruising through 2026.
We have regular support meetings at Brewer Maine Library, we have monthly Zoom sessions through the winters, and we are having our 4th annual (!) luncheon in Augusta!!
The New England Walk4Hearing is October 4th and a large proportion of the donations (40%) will go directly to our chapter. This is a worthy cause, as many of us are hard of hearing and benefit from the advocacy provided by the Hearing Loss Association of America for:- Captions – accessible on TVs and movies
- Captions in airports and on airplane
- Hearing access devices in theaters, churches, public meeting spaces
- And so much more – new technology!
