Open Captioned Performances
During the fourth week of each production, dialogue and lyrics are shown on monitors flanking both sides of the stage. These performances are noted on the season schedule with an OC symbol.

Its cutting-edge Hearing Loop system works with T-Coil hearing aids so that actor’s voices and sound cues are tracked directly through patron’s hearing aid, earbuds, or borrowed headset.
Open captioning is a text display of dialogue and sound effects synced with the performance and positioned so that most of the theater can use or ignore it based on their needs. Patrons do not need special equipment to use this service. Seating with optimal viewing of the captioning display is reserved for patrons who need it and is available by contacting the Box Office. You can find open captioning performances dates on the show pages of our website when they are announced. If you’re interested in attending an open captioning performance, we encourage you to contact our Box Office. Our team will be happy to help you find the best viewing area for the captions and answer any questions you may have.

Auracast™ Broadcast Audio The Strand Theatre is excited to announce that we will soon be adding Auracast™ broadcast audio to our sound system, in partnership with local audiologist Gary D. Schwartzberg, AuD.
Auracast is a new Bluetooth® technology that allows audience members to receive crystal-clear audio from the theatre directly to compatible hearing aids, earbuds, headphones, or smartphones. This innovation will help make movies, concerts, talks, and special events at the Strand more accessible and enjoyable for everyone.
All Tuesday screenings will have open captions on the films that have that capability.

Trinity has an infrared system made by Listen Technologies. The units come in two type: stethoscope (with ear pieces attached to the unit) and lanyard (worn around the neck with a set of headphones). We also have loops that can be plugged into the lanyards. The loop will transmit the audio feed to your hearing aid.
Both the stethoscope and lanyard units have volume control, so you can dictate how loud or soft the audio feed transmits throughout the performance. It is also important to make sure that the unit is not blocked by anything (a coat, scarf, etc.) because it will prevent the infrared signal from getting through. For more information, please ask the house manager on your next visit to the theater.
