Update From the Brewer Library Hearing Loss Gatherings! Sept, 2026
From Gwen: Six of us gals and one very tolerant gentleman (Gwen’s better half, hee hee hee.). We were delighted to welcome a new participant and two attendees we hadn’t seen in a while.
There was plenty to talk about, and we made good use of our time together. Tablets with captions were available so everyone could stay connected to the conversation.
Some of the topics we covered included:
- Purchasing hearing aids—where to get them, how to evaluate options, and how to make sure we receive the features and support we truly need.
- Challenges communicating with family members, especially when hearing loss creates misunderstandings or fatigue.
- A history of listening systems in public places, led by Pat, including an introduction to Auracast, the newest innovation beginning to appear in venues and offering more accessible, reliable audio for people using hearing devices.
And more!
