Two things on our horizon: Deaf Culture Festival, and Walk4Hearing in-person in Boston or virtually.

We are a sponsor of the Deaf Culture Festival on Saturday Sept 28, 2024.

Please join us and the Maine Association of the Deaf (MEAD) to let deaf folks know about a relatively new hard of hearing resource (HLAA Downeast Chapter), and get to know both organizations.

This free annual festival “is a vibrant celebration of diversity, creativity, and community spirit. Join us for a day filled with Deaf-friendly businesses, exciting activities for kids, and captivating art exhibits. It’s an opportunity to connect, make new friends, and honor the remarkable heritage of the Deaf culture.”

Location: 1 Mackworth Island, Falmouth, ME.

Time: 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM.

Join our team. We are part of the Boston Walk4Hearing on Oct 6, 2024. You can participate in-person or virtually. Please donate to our cause too.

Did you know? Most people diagnosed with hearing loss wait up to 10 years before seeking help! Our participation will raise awareness of the importance of acting quickly on hearing issues, and how hearing affects overall health. Every step we take breaks down barriers that form when ears don’t get the entire audio frequency.

Join the DownEast HLAA Maine team as we raise money to support hard of hearing folks throughout our state. You can also create a fundraiser page from here to help us all.

Margaret Myatt is our team captain. Use the HLAA Downeast Chapter’s Contact Us form and see her Walk4Hearing page.

Learn more about this nationwide multi-month event at HLAA Walk4Hearing and let everyone know about Maine’s support for HOH folks. Boston, MA, is the nearest event for in-person participation.
